APSI and TFE Hotels signed an MoU for workplace training
On 8 December, Australian Professional Skills Institute signed an MoU with TFE Hotels Group at one of their flagship hotels – Rendezvous Grand Hotel in Scarborough. This MoU formalises the collaboration and partnership in training for the next generation of the hospitality workforce.
APSI has been at the forefront of training hospitality professionals and skilling the current workforce since 2009, through the traineeship and apprenticeship program, as well as fee for service international education programs. Our hospitality training focussing on a hands on approach, which is the essence of competency based training.
TFE Hotels is a leader in providing quality accommodation packages in strategic locations in Perth. You will hear a bit more about TFE hotels from Sohrab and their managers who are here tonight.
In vocational training, it has been an ongoing challenge to teach students to apply classroom knowledge in the real world. Internship and work experience opportunities helps to narrow this gap by pushing the students to face real-world problems and challenges, develop their soft skills such as communication and teamwork, and experiencing the changing trends of the industry first hand.
The collaboration between APSI and Scarborough Rendezvous Hotel has flourished over the past few months, ranging from running our commercial cookery classes in their fully operational commercial kitchens, to placing our students in various departments in their hotel facilities for work experience.
Hospitality and Tourism is the emerging industry sector for the future of WA. Promoting quality training and positive job outcomes is of mutual interest to both APSI and TFE hotels. I am delighted to see that our partnership is extended to all TFE hotel properties in Australia, with the intention of enhancing our workforce competiveness.
APSI has a clear vision to be the leader in the vocational education and training industry in WA. Our East Perth campus has contemporary facilities and a passionate staff, with years of experience in both industry and education sectors. The addition of the kitchen facilities at Rendezvous Hotel enhances our students’ hands on learning experiences.
Our strengths complement each other by offering our students the opportunity to put into practise what they learn in the classroom and this MOU marks an important milestone in strengthening the ties between APSI and TFE Hotels.
